"The trip was more beautiful, fascinating, and strenuous than I could ever have imagined and I came out feeling completely revived and refreshed by the experience. It is wonderful to go to a place so isolated from the normal cares and pressures of the world and to be able to explore the beauties of the canyons with such an experienced and professional company and with such enjoyable traveling companions."
Ian, August 2000

An intricate network of canyons began forming millions of years ago on the Colorado Plateau. In the center of this region, surrounded by National Parks, the Escalante River lies deep in a colorful sandstone canyon.
The area is as beautiful as it is remote. All the forces of nature have combined to carve deep Navajo and Wingate sandstone canyons. Although the Plateau is considered to be high desert, the canyon bottoms are lush and green. Seeps and springs join in the many side canyons forming streams that support a variety of native plants and animals. This beautiful area is the wilderness home of Escalante Canyon Outfitters.
